Disclaimer: data used
- To match the ethnicity categories used in your workforce data and ONS, you will need to group some of your data. We have provided a data capture sheet to help achieve a successful comparison. For example, the ‘white British’ input box in the tool must include individuals identified as white English, white Scottish, white Welsh, white Cornish, white Northern Irish.
- This digital tool has been developed in line with available datasets from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), NOMIS (National Online Manpower Information System) and the 2011 Census. Some of the available datasets do not fully reflect the societal changes around the understanding of gender and sexual orientation. For example, national data collection for gender classification is limited to ‘male’ and ‘female’. Potentially, these classifications would only offer individuals who do not identify with either ‘male’ or ‘female’ to choose ‘unknown’ or ‘undisclosed’ options. For the purposes of comparison, the tool has had to reflect the limits of the available datasets.
- It is crucial to consider those not represented in the categories provided, to ensure your attraction, recruitment and retention behaviours are as inclusive and open as possible.
- By using this tool you agree that NHS Employers, part of the NHS Confederation, shall not be liable for any loss or damage at all arising from the tool, use of the tool or data, or from any content or data provided by or sourced from third parties.
